Halloween 5K Run to Benefit the Darfur Stoves Project
People across Northampton, Massachusetts will be coming out on October 31, 2009 for the Halloween Northhampton 5k Run/Walk Race to raise money for The Darfur Stoves Project. The goal of the race is to raise $100,000 to provide 5,000 women in Darfur with stoves. The race is sponsored by State Radio in Northampton, their humanitarian wing, Calling all crows, as well as local STAND chapters. This fundraising effort is possible through The Darfur Stoves Project partnership with Oxfam America.
The race will begin at 2:00 pm and kicks off at the Courthouse on Gothic St. and runs through downtown Northampon, Smith College, and Child’s Memorial Park. Costumes are encouraged, and there will be special prizes for the best costume and the most successful fundraiser. The top 5 fundraisers will win a ticket to a Very Secret and Acoustic Crow Show.
