To date, we have distributed over 45,000 stoves, improving the lives of more than 270,000 people (based on the average family size of 6).
Our stove users are healthier because our stove emits 40% less cancer and low birth weight causing carbon monoxide and 50% less respiratory disease causing fine particulate matter.
Our stove users save money by reducing fuel expenditures from 33% to 17% -a savings of $.97 per day in firewood costs. Over the anticipated 5-year lifespan of the stove, this savings amounts to $1,770 per household. If the savings reported by users in this survey are representative of the entire population we serve in Darfur (as we believe they are), the collective firewood savings created by all the stoves distributed so far is more than $79 million.
Protecting the environment
Our environment is cleaner and are forests stronger because 77% less black carbon is emitted from our stove and are stove uses 54% less fuelwood.
